Vulnerable Indian Sea Route

sea_route_terror_indiaNavy Chief Admiral Suresh Mehta said while inaugurating a seminar organised by the National Maritime Foundation in New Delhi that Cargo containers could be used to transport nuclear weapons to India.It is the most likely means for terrorists to illegally transport weapons and hence, there is serious concern about the container security and these containers should be scanned thoroughly to ensure 100% security at ports by scanning under X-ray machines.

In the back drop of Mumbai attacks having exposed the vulnerability of the Indian coastline, Mehta suggested every country from which the container leaves to India has to certify that thecontainer is fully secured.
