Yahoo Geocities is closing down – My first website was hosted on Geocities

Yahoo Geocities is closing down. If you visit Geocities, you can find this notice on top of the page. I hosted my first website there in simple HTML. This service by aquired by Yahoo for US$ 3.65 in 1999. Those days Geocities was the most preferred and free service for creating web pages.

Yahoo has paid web hosting which is something I will never recommend to anybody. It does to support .htaccess file and lots of restrictions.
