Wordpress Plugin to Manage Multiple Blogs – Initial Version Released

by Kishore on August 1, 2009

I had earlier written a post related to my new Wordpress plugin to Manage multiple blogs. This plugin is for people who maintain multiple blogs. I have used ajax, so there is only one page to load and its fast and easy to use.

Manage multiple blogs

Installation – As simple as any regular plugin. You need to unzip the files and upload to your plugins directory. You need to make the upload directory inside the uploadify folder. Images are temporarily uploaded to this folder before moving to the respective blog upload directory.

Scripts Used – JQuery, Uploadify

What can you do with this plugin

Manage Blogs for this plugin

Add new blogs, edit blog settings, delete added blog

Manage Comments

You can moderate comments on all the blogs connected using this plugin. The home page gives you all the pending comments from all the blogs that you have connected.

You can reply to a comment, mark a comment as spam and pending. An additional feature which is not available with the default wordpress installation is reply via email. All the comment reply sends and email to the author of the parent comment.

Manage Posts

You can view all the posts of all the connected blogs. You can moderate posts, publish post, schedule a post. You can also edit posts.

View Posts

You can browse through all the posts of all the blogs connected to this plugin

Write new posts

You can write new posts on any of the blogs connected to this plugin. Writing a post includes, uploading images, TinyMCE editor, add videos, assign categories, add tags, set publish date (For schedule posting).

One highlighting feature of this plugin is to get related posts by checking through all the blogs connected. The related posts are checked using the title of the post when the title is entered and from the tags. You can use the tag field as a search box to get related posts from all the connected blogs.

While writing a post, you can browse through posts on any of the blogs connected without leaving the post form. You can view the tags used on the that particular blog and add tags by just clicking on the tags.

Cross Posting

You can cross post a post from one blog to other blogs.

All in One SEO Support

If you are using All in one seo plugin, you can add the custom title, description and keywords into the fields provided

This plugin was written for my personal need, thought of sharing with others if they needed. If you find this plugin useful, you can think of buying me a beer by donating. My paypal id is me@googling.in

Hi KishoreThis sounds like an awesome plugin and something I could put to good use. Just one quick question, does it support multiple installs on one domain or it works on cross domains too?

Reply

Kishore September 3, 2009 at 8:47 am

Zulfikar – It supports both, multiple as well as cross domains

Reply

lysa September 8, 2009 at 7:50 am

It’s not working when I tried to log-in. I am willing to pay if you make it work. But if there is no support from you, I have to forget about it. I saw the last post was about a week ago. And it seems that you cannot come out with the working version.Too bad. Time is money and if it takes a week and no news from you, I dont think that you are serious about the plugin. My advise is simple. You have to be serious if it is about money. Sorry man.

Reply

Kishore September 8, 2009 at 10:49 am

Lysa – I was on vacation and have just reached back. This plugin is a free one, which is working well for me managing 8 blogs. It may not work for all, depending on the version of the Wordpress that they are using or the PHP version or some other factors. I have spend a lot of time writing this plugin and the reason that I am not selling this plugin is because, I am not in a position to provide support, but for sure, you will find a new version with known bugs cleared very soon

Reply

Kishore September 8, 2009 at 11:43 am

A new version is available for download, please update your installation.

Any chance this plugin is also compatible with Platinum SEO Pack? (Platinum SEO Pack is a fork of All-in-One SEO, which it was my understanding that the original developer had stopped supporting). I will shortly be reviewing your plugin on my site in the category of Productivity/Time Management. Thank you very much for sharing!

Reply

Channa – I have currently added only the custom fields for AIO SEO plugin

Reply

Channa Connolly September 10, 2009 at 2:00 pm

Hmmm…disappointing. No matter which of my blogs I try to add (and I know the unames and pw are correct), I get the following error:Error – something went wrong not found

Reply

Kishore September 10, 2009 at 4:06 pm

Have you enabled Remote Publishing – You need to make sure that you have enabled this for all the blogs that you are connecting to. To do this go to the Admin panel of the blog that you are trying to connect with and then go to the “Writing” link under the setting and enable Atom Publishing Protocol and XML-RPC.

Digigirl September 10, 2009 at 7:48 pm

Hi, I am trying to use this but it won’t work. I don’t get an error, it just doesn’t do anything. When I click on “Add a blog and start up” I get the little Ajax loading symbol for a second – then nothing.I have deactivated all other plugins and it still does it. I am on 2.8.4.

Reply

Kishore September 11, 2009 at 6:10 am

Please upgrade to the latest version 1.4, it should work fine now

Reply

Navjot Singh September 13, 2009 at 1:53 am

Now your plugin messes up the dashboard ajax features. Menu Dropdowns in dashboard stopped working with your plugin kept active. As soon as I disable your plugin, ajax features start working again.

Kishore September 13, 2009 at 3:11 pm

Could be it is having conflict with some other plugin that you are using. The next version will take care of this

Digigirl September 15, 2009 at 1:58 pm

Hi, sorry it took me so long to get back to this. I am using PHP 5.2.4.

I installed the update you released and it still did the same thing – nothing. So, I again deactivated all plugins except this one, then reactivated them all one by one.

You have a conflict with the SEO Ultimate plugin. If I have SEO Ultimate activated, your plugin will not work. I switched to All in One SEO Pack and it works fine.

So, FYI. I will notify the SEO Ultimate plugin author as well.

Reply

Kishore September 15, 2009 at 3:29 pm

Thanks for the feedback. I have never used SEO Ultimate plugin, but I use All in one SEO plugin and it works fine

You mentioned other similar plugins? can you give me some examples? your plugin works fine, but I am not moderating and posting to several blogs, I just keep them updated and more, so I’d need a more compelte solution, that lets me access multiple blogs back ends from one single back end.care to give me some other plugin’s name please?

This plug-in doesn’t work for me 2.84, deactivated every plug-in I have and still nothing. This is a crap plug-in because I tried it at a clean blog with nothing on it and another blog with allot content and still nothing. It just sits there and does nothing when you try to add a blog. As I said I tried it on two different blogs and it did the same thing which is nothing. Good try, but no work means no help to me. Maybe in future you will write a plug-in that works or at least say what it doesn’t work with.

Kish, On WP MU 2.8.4 so version should be OK. I use FF mostly. I will try on chrome or safari and let you know. What can we do to fix this as I have removed all plugins and that did not fix. Basically it is like the buttons in the admin dead end. When I click, I get no response or action. Any ideas?

David Ostrow October 23, 2009 at 9:15 am

Kish, I figured out the problem with the buttons. There were corruptions in my WP install. Reinstall wp-admin and wp-includes and whalla, the buttons work, as do all other JS related problems on the site. Now, one more challenge for you. I have 27 blogs. the are all subdomains of my main site. fitgolf.com is the main site, and the subsites are subsite.fitgolf.com. I am trying to add the blogs to your plugin. I hav done that with one of them successfully. When I try to register others i am getting username and password errors. I know that the credentials are correct, because the are the same on all the sites. I also know that the username is an ADMIN on all blogs. What am I missing?

Dave

Reply

David Ostrow October 23, 2009 at 9:27 am

I just figured it out. I had to enable remote publishing on each subsite. That is now done and I can add the blogs.

I am excited. Are there directions somewhere for content sharing across the blogs. I want content from one to appear in the other’s template.

Thanks

Dave

Hello Again Kish. I wanted to tell you that I think I get it. I was able to add all of my blogs. There are two that are not showing in the button list of my blogs. When I go to add them, you plugin give me an error and says that the blogs are already added and that I can edit them. Problem is that I cannot see them to edit them. During the addition of these two blogs there was another error that did not give an explanation, it just said there was an error adding the blog. Any Ideas how I might correct this so I can edit.

Next, is there documentation or dirctions on how to share posts and pages across blogs?

Thanks. This look quite cool and useful

Kish, I now have the plugin working fully in my WP install. It does work very well in 2.8.4 MU. Thanks this is fabulous. One question, I figured out how to display snipets of one post on another site. Is there a way to display and entire post or page on a different site? that would really be awesome as we have several pages and posts that need to be the same on several blogs. Is that possible? if so, how. if not, can that be added as a functionality?

Thanks
