Windows Live Writer is my favorite blog posting tool and I have been using this for some time now. Lots of new features being added with every updates. I have been looking for some plugin or method to post the same post to different blogs but only the snippet. The only way was to add all those blogs and do the original post with the full content and then remove the content which I don’t want to show in other blogs (Creating the snippet and link to the original post). Its not advicable to post the entire content to different sites or blogs as there are chances that your site get panelized for duplicate content
Solution to this issue – There is a plugin at the Windows Live Plugin Gallery called xPollinate which does exactly what I needed.
- You can select the blogs to do the Cross Posting
- Edit the headers and footers
- Edit the text that needs to be added
- Number of characters to be posted from the original post
- You can set the comment and ping policy too here.
The other option is to ping to micro blogging services like twitter, facebook and other social bookmarking sites. This is an excellent plugin and something which I had been searching for. To use the ping service, you need to get an api key from ping.fm
