Google is coming up with a very impressive product called Google Wave, which is something very interesting. This product will not work on the Internet Explorer, not even on the latest version i.e IE 8. Most of the other browsers like Safari, Firefox does support this product. Internet explorer is still dominating the market with a market share of about 67% which is a considerable number

Google has found a solution for this problem by developing a plugin which needs to be installed to the windows PC. The installation is very simple and works great.

Google Chrome Frame is an early-stage open source plug-in that seamlessly brings Google Chrome’s open web technologies and speedy JavaScript engine to Internet Explorer. With Google Chrome Frame, you can:

  • Start using open web technologies – like the HTML5 canvas tag – right away, even technologies that aren’t yet supported in Internet Explorer 6, 7, or 8.
  • Take advantage of JavaScript performance improvements to make your apps faster and more responsive.

This could be a downfall for the Microsoft team and could come up with a home solution for this rather than using the chrome framework for Internet Explorer. Microsoft responded to this by saying that Internet Explorer is safest web browser available till date and this framework could compromise on security threats to malware and malicious scripts. Latest phishing and malware data from NSS Labs shows very clearly that Internet Explorer is the most safest browser compared to Google Chrome or any other browser.

Should we install this plugin and open to the threats? This should be a question in the mind of every internet user. Anyway, we need to wait till the release of Google Wave and try it with compatible browsers. To be frank, I have not used internet explorer for a long time and now me using MAC, I am very much happy using the latest version of Safari and Firefox.
