I need to travel a lot and many times I need to access my office PC or sometimes Home PC while I am travelling. I use an excellent free service with extra features for affordable charges. This remote control service is from LogmeIn which is being very widely used around the world. You can control your assigned systems (Windows PC’s) using this service. You can browse the files, use the softwares, almost everything that you will need to do. You can even use this service from a Windows Mobile Pocket PC or an iPhone also.

What do you have to do?

First create an account with LogMeIn.Com and add the computers that you need to use or access remotely. Once you add the computers, you will be able to see the computers online or offline from your account control panel. If you want to remote control your added PC, just click on the link and you get the login screen and you finally get the desktop of the PC. You need to have the computer connected to the internet to access it remotely. Remote control is a free service, but if you want other Pro services, you need to pay a very small monthly fees which is very much worth the service you use. I was looking for a tool to blog pages that I like using window live writer. There is a firefox addon which can be used to blog the page. All you need is  is select the text that you would like to add to the post like you see in the picture posted. The title of the post will be the title of the selected web page. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium on my Dell XPS M1330 and very often face wireless connectivity problem at my home. It works excellent at my office, but when I go home, recently I find connection with only Local access and no Internet connection.

One of the reason may be the signal is very week as the ADSL Router is in a different floor. I use a Wifi Antenna to boost the signals and it was working fine till last weak.

While Googling I could find that the Wifi connection with Vista is a common problem

Windows Vista can be update automatically. In this when there is an update released by Microsoft, your system will automatically download the updates and install it. If you have not enabled auto update, then you will have to update manually.

You can check your update History by going to Control Panel-> Windows Update

To View your update history, you can click on the “View update history”. You will get the information related to the updates done in the past and this is helpful when you find any problem due to these updates like some conflicts in drivers. In this case, either you can go for system restore or uninstall the updates

You can remove the installed updates by clicking on the link “Installed Updates”

I use windows live writer to post on my blogs usually. From my last post, you may notice that I have added a different style, to my blog post. This is done just by the Live Writer. Its very simple, I have changed the <h6> style in the style sheet and I select the text which I need to put into this box.

Modifying the style

This is the style that I have used. Now I select the text which I need to show in the box with “Heading 6” from the drop down box on top. This way you can create good looking style boxes and use it on the fly.

The CSS given below is a very simple one. You can modify as you want and even you can use <h5> which is not much used. You should make sure that you should not use the the tags which you have modified.

I was facing some problem with my Dell XPS M1330. Very often when I boot my laptop, I get a blue screen error with a reason that the Hard drive was not found and I had to many time use the system restore feature to use my laptop again.

I sorted this out, but going to the Bio’s set up.

1. First thing I did was to disable Flash memory Cache
2. Then changed the hard drive interface from AHCI to standard

Now I did not find this error. Hope the problem is sorted out

If anybody has a real solution other than the above, please post it here

I am using Windows vista on my laptop and I was facing some problems. The biggest problem that I was facing was the disk partition. My hard drive was made to two partition, C drive with 20 GB and D drive with 160 GB. This was a blunder done by the service engineer who installed the OS for me. I was having very less space as Windows Vista takes about 15 GB and when I install any new programs then I need to select Drive D for installation. I tried different tricks to expand my C drive space but nothing worked for me. Other problem that I faced with Vista was some programs were not working properly. So I decided to go for Windows XP and keep the Vista installation intact for the time being.

How to install Windows XP with Windows Vista and configure the dual Booting

Requirements

Windows XP licensed version

Vista Boot Pro

Process

1. Shut down your system and insert the Windows XP CD to computer
2. Make sure that your system first booting is from the CD rom or you can change it by pressing the F10 key while your system boots
3. Install the Windows XP
4. Try restarting, you may not be able to use Windows Vista
5. Just start Windows XP and install Vista Boot Pro
6. Copy boot.ini, NTDETECT.COM and ntldr from the drive where Windows Vista is installed and paste it to the drive where you have installed Windows XP.
7. Run Vista Boot Pro and go to "System Boot Loader" tab and select Windows Vista Bootloader, then in the second option select All drives and click on the Install Bootloader button
8. You are done

Now restart your system, you should find the option to select the operating system
