I recently got an Omnia i900 when I was in India. It cost me INR 31,000. It runs on Windows mobile 6.1. I had read some reviews before buying this. I am very much upset buying this phone for many reasons. The battery is very bad. It does not last for my 1 day use. You cannot expect a user to carry the charger when he is using the phone. I have used many Windows Mobile devices like the O2, HTC, HP, but they all gave me 1 and half day battery without any problems. The Rom I am using is Sep 2008 version. I was checking for an updated Rom for this phone, but I could not find a download for Indian version, so I assume that its the latest Rom.

I was using iPhone for some time and have experienced the touch feature of iPhone. The touch and scroll feature of iPhone cannot be compared with that of this Omnia. It comes no way near it. The resolution or the visibility is very poor. There are lots of thing that really bugs me about this phone. Biggest thing I hate about this phone is they have tried their best to make the user use thing phone without the stylus buy providing option for custom keyboard, bigger menu, etc, but its impossible to use this phone without the stylus. iPhone is made to use with your fingers and it is excellent. Do you know that you need to hang the stylus with your phone in Omnia as there is no slot like the other phones to keep your stylus, its really buggy.

Reviews on different popular website never mentioned about these things. I feel the reviews are influenced by the manufacturers. Some sites had some negative opinion but the pros were more than the cons. The pros what I have seen in this phone is the camera, 5 mega pixels and the storage, 8GB. The processor seems to be good and GPS is also working fine. The usability is not upto the expectation, but a first time pocket pc user may be happy with this. If you are a regular user of a windows mobile pocket pc or an iPhone, I am sure you will not be happy.

If you know any latest Rom update for Omnia i900 for the Indian Version, please let me know and also share your experience if you are an Omnia user. There are lots of new phones coming up with better usability features and touch experience like the Toshiba TG01. iPhone has excellent touch feature, but again that has some restrictions like the copy and paste feature, SMS forwarding, Email with attachments, but when we look into the usability, its much better.

I have been using iPhone for some time now and it’s time to write a review now. I can strongly recommend this product. I was using windows mobile for the past 5 years now and was very much comfortable using it. Recently I changed my phone to iPhone and was really have some trouble accepting the cons of iPhone like the lack of copy paste facility, forwarding an SMS, attaching a file with an email and so on. But after using the iPhone for some time now, I am so much impressed with interface and the touch features. The sensors, screen resolution, keyboard are outstanding. I had jailbroken my iPhone and installed some applications which were really taking care of the missing features like the copy paste feature, video recording, SMS forwarding etc which was working fine.

I am sure that in near future Apple will take care of the missing features like the copy paste feature, SMS forwarding, etc. There are tons of excellent free and paid applications in the Apple App store which can increase the usability of your iPhone. I use some applications like truphone, twitee, blogpress, facebook which are really useful. The Google applications for iPhone really make your life easy.

Google is planning to launch another product called G Drive, concept is to store all the data online and access your data from anywhere in the world through your PC or any other PC connected to Internet.

Will you accept to store your all your data online, yes if you trust Google and its security, some may say no. Now the question is will this service be free and if free, how will Google be able to make money from this service. Will they be serving ads, or will they be limiting the free storage limit to some GB’s and after that you may be asked to pay a monthly subscription or you may have to pay for a ad free version? All these are guesses, but I am sure Google will come up with something which will be affordable for a common user. Google already has products like Gmail for emails, Google Docs for managing documents, Picasa for image editing and storing images online, YouTube for Videos. Anyway its not really going to kill the desktop, will Google will have applications to open all the files like an Autocad file. Gmail has now offline feature enabled which could be one step for the G Drive.

The Wall Street Journal said that Google could "shift tack or shelve plans for the storage offering" if it couldn’t successfully deal with the issues of "data privacy, copyright [think sharing], the economics of adding storage capacity and the technical challenges of offering service without interruption."

Google’s also reportedly trying to make the widgetry directly accessible from Windows, feel like a local hard drive and apparently make search transparent across Gmail, Docs and Picasa Web Albums storage Source – http://weblogic.sys-con.com/node/821846

There are mobile phones which can have two phone connections working at the same time on a single mobile phone.

Spice Dual sim GSM CDMA Phone D88n is available in India. It has all the rich features that a basic phone needs and is costing about INR 9000.00.

This phone can give you two numbers which will be working at the same time. You do not need to switch between the connection all the time when you need to use it. Other features includes camera, 1000 numbers phone book, expandable memory upto 1 GB, Games, alarm, bluetooth and many more features

I have not used this phone, but I was looking for something like this. Does anybody know any pocket pc which can have this feature of dual sim?

I always try to keep myself updated with the latest products and take the advantages of the new technology.

My Laptop
I change my laptop every year, this is not because I have money, but to get the best out of me. I was using a Compaq with 512mb ram for about an year, but towards the end, I felt that its not enough for me. Now I have upgraded my laptop to a Lenova, with 2mb ram and Vista as the operating system. Whats the advantage of this? Yes I can feel the advantage, I can work more efficiently and save a lot of time. Instead of spending long time in editing the images that I need to upload to my blogs or even when it comes to my project works and developments.

I use a HTC TyTN as my phone and pocket pc. I use Push Email from Microsoft, through which I get my emails as soon as it arrives at my server. I do not miss any email or there is no delay in replying to the emails sent to me. I was using a Gmail account for my mails, but now I forward all the emails to my Exchange Account and I get it instantly. I can reply these mails from my HTC TyTn or if its not urgent, I can handle that later. My contacts, calender always synchronized. Suppose I add a contact in my pocket pc, its immediately updated on the server and when I open my laptop I find it there also.
Last time when I changed my phone from O2 Zinc to the recent one, I just needed to configure the server information of my Exchange account and within minutes I got my contact, emails, calender, task updated on my pocket pc. I cannot imaging entering all the contacts (I have more than 1000) manually. I do not have time for that. I work almost 16-18 hours a day and I still feel its not enough.

What I mean to say in this post is that you can manage with tools which are old or less efficient, but to get the best, you need to use the best. You should try this, you will see the difference in your output
