Much awaited Google Friend Connect has be launched. I am sure that every blogger who is active in social networking will surely use this service. I just installed this on one of my blog and its really great.

Google Friend connect is a tool to get your friends together from all the social networking sites, share your friends, and invite your friends. It can used for sites like facebook, orkut, stumbleupon, digg and more.

Setting up your blog with Google Friend Connect

Its very simple, just like inserting any widget, generating the code according to your needs and pasting it to your blog template. There are lots of customisation features available to match your blog theme. There are different widgets available which can be used according to your need and taste.

Advantages of using Google Friend Connect

Increase your blog traffic, in simple words, go viral using Google Friend Connect. You can find Google Friend Connect working live at Latest Blog Posts . You can promote yourself at different blogs by creating a great profile and show your comments on different blogs which use this feature. You can get connected from popular blogs where you are active as you will have your profile displayed on the blogs where you are active. You can administer the posted comments, block users, moderate comments and many more features available in the admin panel. You can add multiple blogs in your admin panel.

Will Google Friends Connect Replace the Comment Box – The Google friend connect review and commenting gadget is excellent and is more effective than the traditional comment box. You have an universal identity and if all the blogs are using this feature, then surely it will replace the existing commenting form. My worry is what will happen to the blogs who have tons of comments with old posts in case we try to replace the existing comment box. Yes we can remove the comment submission form and just print the existing comments and for new comments Google Friends Connect can be used.

Threats – What will happen to various plugins, services like Gravatar and open ID, will all these be replaced by Google Friends Connect?

I am sure that Google Friends Connect will be the most used Widget in future and is the future of the Social Media connectivity. Lots of new gadget will be coming soon.

You can see this video which demonstrates the screen of the new OS from Google. The browser runs on Google Chrome Browser. The concept of this operating system is not to use any hard disk, but everything will be on the web. You can use applications like Google Docs for creating and storing documents online, use Gmail for communication, Picasa for editing your images and store the images online on Picasa Web, YouTube for your videos, Google Reader to read your subscriptions. The concept is to use the web storage rather than hard drive and all the applications will be web based and above all its open source.

I was going through different blogs and news about Google Phone and just thought of scrapping the pros and cons or the first views of experts who had a chance of getting the look and feel of the new Google Phone. Google phone runs on Android the OS which is open source developed by Google Code

Handset for Google Phone is from HTC which is one of the largest manufacturers of high end PDA’s or pocket pc. The handset is something which is not really of everybody’s taste as it differs from person to person. There will more and more companies using the Google Software for their phones soon which will enable the consumers to select the model of their choice.

Limitations of G1

Some of the limitations which are discussed are

One Gmail account

Can watch videos only on Youtube

No synchronization available with Microsoft Outlook

Synchronizing with your laptop is not available

Email attachments can be viewed, but cannot be edited or saved

Locked to the service provider currently, but unlocks automatically after 90 days

No headphone jack

Compatibility with Google products like Gmail, Calendar, Maps, etc

Need to wait for more applications to be developed

Google’s intention is to get more people online , using search and advertising from which they really make money. Google has kept Android as open source which means that you can use the software for free and write or modify new applications and use.

G1 is being branded as iPhone killer, but we need to wait and see. G1 is able to download music from Amazon which results in the availability of about 6 million tracks of music on the touch of a button. One of the great features of Google Phone is that it allows you to scan any barcode on a product, and then instantly compare prices to other shops and websites, so you always know whether or not you can get a better deal. Probably won’t get much use but still a nice add-on. One feature that G1 lacks when you compare with iPhone is the multidirectional touch. Price is well matched with iPhone, but again depends on the service provider and the countries. iPhone in United states is around US$200, but when I checked with Airtel in India, the price comes to around US$700, which is not worth as far as I am concerned. I have been using PDA’s for the past 5 years and for me a mobile phone is not just an instrument to make phone calls. I use it as a camera, blogging tool, check my emails, browse the Internet, GPS, notepad, music player, video player, for chatting, and many uses.

The biggest advantage of Android is that its open source and any body can modify the software without needing to take any permission from Google. The OS is still in the stage of inception, but has addressed most of the expected features. Android enables developers and mobile phone manufacturers, mobile operators to develop applications and offer features to the consumers. The first Mobile phone with Android operating system is called G1 and the hardware is developed by HTC, very popular mobile phone developer.

About Android

Android works on Linux version for core system like the memory management, security, process management, etc. Linux kernel acts as an abstraction layer between the software and the machine. You can download the beta version of Android and try it yourself if you are interested in developing applications. Applications for Android and build using Java.

Features of Android

Application Framework

Camera, GPS

Integrated Browser

Optimised Graphics

Media support

Android has great feature and will really be a threat for iPhone market.
