Run Off Elections in Maldives Started

maldives-voting Today the final and crucial election for the President of Maldives has started at 09.00am and will go till 08.30pm. The contestants are the President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom of Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party, DRP, Mohamed Nasheed, Anni of the main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party, MDP.

The counting of votes will start as soon as the voting is over. The first phase of elections was on the 8th of October in which none of the candidates got the 50% mark and so the run off elections were called.
