link rel = canonical – New tag to tell search engines of clean URL

by Kishore on February 16, 2009

link rel = canonical The problem related to duplicate URL’s with regard to search engines has been sorted out. Mattcutts has posted on his blog about this new feature which is valid for most of the top search engines like Google, Yahoo and Microsoft will be validating this tag. You have to use this tag inside the <head>tag of your website or blog. For example if you check the source of the page, you will find the canonical tag like this

<link rel=”canonical” value = “http://www.kisaso.com/rel-canonical-duplicate-url/”>

If you are using Wordpress, you can install this plugin to get the tag added to all your pages
