AGE CORRESPONDENT New Delhi June 29: The Supreme Court on Monday expressed its dissatisfaction with the outcome of the efforts being made by the Indian government to ensure safety and security of Indian students in Australia and Canada. A vacation bench comprising Justices Dalveer Bhandari and Asok Kumar Ganguly said, “The safety and security of Indian students in Australia is paramount,” and asked the government to file a comprehensive affidavit within two weeks elaborating the steps undertaken to ensure the safety and security of about 96,000 Indian students studying in Australia and Canada. The Supreme Court also took note of the fact that the problem of racial attacks on Indian students was becoming an extremely serious issue and said, “Parents and relatives of the Indian students should be made aware of the prevailing situation to avoid panic.” During the hearing, the bench also expressed its surprise that the alleged racial attacks were taking place in a country like Australia, which is one of the most civilised in the world
