Modules Invisible, Shown missing in Drupal administration

by Kishore on March 11, 2007

Yesterday, I was working on my Drupal website (Website using Drupal 5.1) and found a strange thing. I had my site transferred from a shared hosting to a dedicated server and the site transfer went well and all the testings positive.
I was then trying to add some modules and uploaded the file and then went to administration – > modules and found something strange. Only a very few modules were showing up. Many of the installed ones and the inactive ones were missing. The taxonomy module was also missing so I could not make any forum posts as the taxonomy module is mandatory for this. I checked my server and all the files were intact.

I wanted to check if there were any problems as I had copied all the files from a different sever and ftp it to this new server ( Infact everything was working fine for a day after the transfer, may be because of caching). I did a new installation of Drupal using Fantastico and then checked, the same problem occurred, many default modules missing, even some of the core ones like system.

I googled to find this problem and found a post at the drupal site. I too have my hosting with siteground and I contacted them with the problem. I posted a ticket few hours back and they are working on that. Siteground has an excellent customer support and I am sure they will sort it out.

If anybody has a solution for this problem please post it. I will anyway come up with the solution as soon as I get this problem sorted out.

Cheers!
