I have been lucky enough to visit most of the top Resorts in Maldives for my official work. There are about 90 operational resorts in Maldives, few new ones like Centara, Beach House, etc coming up very soon. All the Resorts in Maldives are independent islands away from the crowded capital of Maldives, Male’. Maldives in well known for tourism, resorts, beaches and there are millions of tourists visiting Maldives every year.
I am listing my travel to resorts in Maldives here, hope you find it interesting.
One and Only Reethi Rah
One & Only Reethi Rah is known to be the most high rated resort in Maldives.
Kanuhura Resort Maldives
Kanuhura resort was an One & Only resort, but now its run by Sun Resorts and hotels. This was the first resort that I visited in Maldives in 2003. You can have a look at the pictures of my Kanuhura Trip here.
Conrad Maldives Rangali Island
Conrad Maldives, earlier known as Hilton Rangali Resort and Spa is one of the Hilton Hotel in Maldives. Now there are other two resort managed by Hilton namely, Irufushi Hilton and Beach House Manafaru
Irufushi Resort and Spa
Irufushi Resort in Maldives is a very big resort with high standards. This resort was started by Sun Travels, but later on handed over to Hilton to manage.
Four Seasons Resort
Four Seasons Kudahuraa is the first Four Seasons resort in Maldives. Four seasons is one of the high rated resort in Maldives. This resort is near to the Male’ International Airport.
Laanda Giraavaru Resort and Spa
Laanda Giraavaru is the other Four Seasons Resort in Maldives. This is also a high rated resort in Maldives
Shangrilla Villingili Resort and Spa
Shangri-la Maldives is situated near Addu, which is about 1 hour fly from the Male’, the capital of Maldives. This is a very new property in Maldives and again one of the high rated resort in Maldives.
Bandos Island Resort
Bandos Island Resort is one of the most oldest resort in Maldives, which does not mean it looks old. Resorts in Maldives are renovated periodically to maintain its standard. Bandos is very near to Male’ International Airport, just about 30 minutes on a speed boat.
Vilu Reef Resort and Spa
Vilu Reef Resort and Spa is a very old resort with excellent natural heritage and beautiful beaches. I have been here a couple of times
W Retreat and Spa
W Resort and Spa in Maldives is a Starwood hotel in Maldives with beautiful beaches. One of the most costliest resort in Maldives having celebrities as guest and has bagged some top awards. Mirihi Island Resort
Mirihi Island resort is a small and calm resort especially for honeymooners. I had been to this resort few years back
Meeru Island Resort
Meeru Island Resort is again a resort near to Male’. This is again a very good resort with good standards. You can find some pictures from Meeru Island resort which I had taken during my last visit.
Veligandu Island Resort
Veligandu Island Resort is bit far away from Male’, so the transport from Male’ is by Maldivian Air Taxi.
Taj Exotica Resort and Spa

Vivanta Coral Resort
Vivanta Coral Maldives is the latest Taj Resort in Maldives. This resort was the old Taj Corel which was fully re-constructed and is the first Vivanta series of Hotels from Taj Group of Hotels
Constance Halaveli Resort
Constance Halaveli Resort is one of the newest resort in Maldives.
Centara Grand Resort
Centara Grand is the first Centara Hotel in Maldives. This resort will be operational from the 1st November 2009.
These are a few resorts that I have visited in Maldives. I did not have a camera carried when I used to visit resort earlier and some are printed pictures, so I am not in a position to post those pictures.
