Male’ The Capital of Maldives

by Kishore on April 5, 2009

Male’ is the capital of Maldives, the most densely populated city in the World. I also think that its most costly place to live also. Male’ is located almost in the centre of the nation, on the east side of Kaafu atoll. It is the commercial centre and the location of many important historical and religious landmarks. With an area of just over 1.77 square kilometres, it is home to over 110,000 people.

After Tsunami, many people from the island moved to Male’ in search of jobs and accommodation. Most of the Government offices and other facilities are available in Male’. The international airport is very near to Male’ and most of the people in Maldives prefer to live in Male’.Male', the capital of Maldives

This picture is near the Sultans Park.

Most of the tourists arriving to Maldives, do not come to Male’, unless the resort arranges a day trip to Male’. There are some historical places in Male’ which are visited by the tourists during their trip to Maldives. Usually the tourists coming to a resort in Maldives will directly travel from the airport to the resort by a transfer arranaged by the resort. It could be either a speed launch or a Sea Plane.
