Maldivian Air Taxi is one of the Sea Plane operators in Maldives. The Sea Plane airport is situated at the Hulhule Island where the Male’ International Airport is located. The service of Sea Planes are used mostly by the Tourists coming to Maldives. There are many resorts which are located far away from the International airport and traveling to these resorts using speed launch could be tiring. The Madivian Air Taxi which is shortly called as MAT was founded on November 4, 1993. It currently has 24 sea planes and covers 52 destinations. The service of sea planes are also used by the locals to travel to distant islands. Lars Erik Nielsen is the Founder and Chairman of the Board of the Maldivian Air Taxi.
The sea plane pilots are usually from Canada and there are some local pilots too.
