The tourism in Maldives is booming inspite of global recession. October 2008 was the best ever October looking into the number of tourist inflow to Maldives.
Most of the Resorts in Maldives are fully booked till February 2009 and there are no cancellation of bookings from any tour operator till now.
Tourism is the biggest revenue generator for Maldives and one the most preferred destination for celebrities. There are plans to modernize the Male’ International Airport soon to facilitate the arrival of tourist into Maldives.
