Maldives Run Off Elections on October 29th

image Presidential Elections in Maldives could not decide the future President of Maldives as none of the candidates could bag more than 50% of the votes. The turnout for the election was historical and was free and fair.

The election commission has declared October 29th 2008 as the election date for the run off polls. The candidates for this election will be President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom of DRP and Mohamed Nasheed of MDP. All the other candidates who had contested for the Presidential election has announced support to the MDP candidate Mohamed Nasheed for the run off polls to bring a change in the ruler who as been the President of the country for the past 30 years. Its very difficult to predict the result of this poll at the this stage. President Gayoom is very confident that he will win the upcoming election with more than 85% votes. What do you feel?
