Even though I don’t live in India for the past 5 years, I am very much interested in knowing and keeping my self updated about India. I was just doing some study about top Indian bloggers and found some interesting blogs. There are about 21 million Internet users in India and about 18 million blogs by Indians. Recently in news were the compulsive confessor, Meenakshi Madhavan Reddy, who was blogging anonymously about her experiences was in news.
Why do we blog?
Blogging is platform to come up with your experience, talk to the world without any restriction. Earlier only Media could do this. Now just sign-up for a free blogger account and start your blog.
Talk to the world
If you have a blog, you can talk to the world, express what is in your mind. You have the freedom to write your feelings and opinion and any person having access to the Internet can read your blog. Search engines index these blogs and show in the result pages when searched for related topics. It doesn’t take much time to inform the world about a new event or a hot news.
Get Response
If you have blog, you will have the chance to interact with the world. Blog has a feature of commenting and responding to the comments, which is the most important feature of blogging.
Make new contacts
I have made lots of friends through my blog. I get lot of help through these friends and I do help them if they need or if I can.
Learn about others experience
I do have RSS subscription for my favourite blogs and I read them every day. Advantage of a blog is that you can use the RSS feeds with an RSS reader like the Google reader to read these blogs without even visiting them.
Make some money
Above all if you have good traffic you can even earn from your blog or at least get the hosting charges from programs like Google Adsense. There are many full time bloggers in India like Amit Agrawal who earn good from his blog.
Cons of Blogging
Anonymity
Many bloggers prefer to be anonymous or they use a false identity if they do not want the world to know who they are as in the case of Compulsive confessor.
Control over blogs
There is no control over the content of the blog, but anybody can take legal action for content which are defaming or misleading. There are regulations and cyber law to take care of these things now a days.
To conclude, blogging in India is becoming popular in India and there are many young bloggers coming up with new ideas and information. I am sure every Internet user in India will have blog, which can be used as a personal dairy for the public or a hub of information. I have my blog which was registered in the year 2000, but I have been actively blogging only since 2006.
