Google Adsense is used by most of the blog owners and many find it paying peanuts compared to CPA programs. There are many top blog owners like Amit who depend on Google Adsense and they get paid well. I was studying my Google Adsense earnings and to be frank, my consistent earning is from Google Adsense. You may not get good results in the beginning, but you can tune your Google Adsense slots and template of your blog to improve your earnings from Adsense.
Use Channels to track your Adsense earnings
We have a channel feature which should be used with every slot to keep track of the performance of every slot. Do this for at least one month and find out the slot which gets more number of clicks and not the earnings. You may notice that there would be a placement in your blog which receives maximum number of clicks, but you do not earn the best from that slot.
Concept of Adsense payment per click
If you have more than one slots, usually we do have about 4-6 slots (maximum is 6 allowed). The ads and displayed according to the bid by the advertiser through Google Adwords, so the highest paid ads are served first. Unfortunately you might be getting clicks to the slots which are kept last and you get paid very less for the clicks. So what you need to do is to modify you theme and make sure that the clicks are generated for the first Adsense slot. Now it depends on you to design your blog in a way so that the ads that get the best click are displayed first.
I have even seen blog which just keep one slot of Google Adsense and they earn good.
