image Those of you who have a blog and are into Earning through blogging, then Pagerank is something which would be of your concern or at least something you keep a watch. Now the question is , “How important is Pagerank for your blog”? Let me tell you, just leave pagerank aside. I was one of those who used to check pagerank with the Google Toolbar very often, but now after Google started penalizing sites for selling links, I have stopped worrying about that. A classic example is of Johnchow who once had a pagerank of 6 and now he is penalized and his blog pagerank is only 3. He even does not rank for his own name even after having thousands of backlinks. He as about 50,000 RSS feed subscribers, 15K tweeter followers and good number of visitors. He earns more than US$ 30 K per month from his blog though affiliate sales, paid reviews and advertizing.

Advantages of having a better pagerank

There are many advantages of having a better pagerank. If you have a high pagerank like 5, it shows that you have pages with higher pagerank linked to your website or blog. This gives a good reputation for your blog. You will get tons of emails for buying links, but now Google penalizes for this. Google says, you can sell links, provided, you use the rel=nofollow tag. This tag stops the search engine to follow the link and does not give any credit for that link. Other biggest advantage of having a better pagerank is that the chances of ranking well on Google SERPs are high, but I would like to say that its not just a higher pagerank will give you good ranking in SERPs.

I would like to advice my fellow bloggers to avoid going into link trade, just allow time to get you a better pagerank by natural links. Google has excellent algorithms to detect natural links and gives you credit only for those natural links. Follow white hat SEO trick, go through the Webmaster Guidelines and follow the instructions. You will surely have good results. Let me tell you, my 80% visitors from Search engines. I have never tried to create artificial backlinks or never asked anybody to link to my blogs.
