This post is for blog writers who are struggling to make their posts visible to readers and search engines. Inter linking your posts are of great importance and is something many writers miss to do. Getting your own back links has some importance in SEO (Search Engine Optimization) point of view as well as its good for readers to go in depth on a particular topic.
What is interlinking ?
When you write a post, you would use a number of keywords which you would have written a page separately. Its very important that you link to those specific pages. For example, I am writing this post and I would like to say that interlinking can increase your pagerank and SERPs. The link to given to pagerank and SERPs goes to a page where I have written on the Importance of Pagerank for better SERPs.
What are the advantages of inter-linking?
Search Engine Point of View
Its always good to have your blog internally linked so that the search engines crawl to all your pages, give importance to the link text and this helps in better Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs). When you link to a particular post, you should make sure that you link to the right words in the post, rather than linking using words like, “You can find more information here”. You will find that Wikipedia is the best website for internal linking.
Reader Point of View
More than the search engines, we should write content for readers. When a reader is reading your blog post, if he finds a particular word or key phrase with a link, he would like to visit that particular page also. This is very important because, if you don’t link, the visitor may not know that you have written a page on that topic. Other important factor is that inter linking can reduce the bounce rate of your blog. A visitor coming to your blog will go to different pages which are linked. Its very difficult to put all your blog posts on the navigation menu, so its always best to interlink all your posts well.
Tools to interlink your blog posts
- Its very difficult and time consuming to find out the exact related post manually, but we can do that by searching your blog for the key words or key phrases and link to related posts with proper key words.
- You can also use plugins like alinks which creates internal links automatically when we use keywords.
- If you are using Windows Live Writer, their is an autolinking feature which creates links for the key phrases added.
To conclude, its very important that you link your internally well as this can increase your traffic, expose your hidden posts, improve your search engine indexing and ranking, reduce bounce rate, increase pages per visit and time spent on your blog.
