You will be knowing that the traffic from search engines are the best, free and real traffic for your blog. Getting traffic from search engines are not an easy task and to get this done is not something which is fully in your control. I will be concentrating on Google in respect to search engine in this post and I do this on most of my post as I have always studied the traffic from Google rather than other search engines. I do get traffic from other search engines too, but Google gives me about 80% of my search engine traffic.
Coming to the topic of this post, I would like to share my Search Engine experiences. To get more traffic from search engine, you need to have your blog to come on the top of the Search Engine Result Pages, commonly called as SERPs. To achieve this goal, there are lots of factors that you need to take care and let me not give you any false claims in this regard.
Age of your website – Google does not crawl much or list your page on top even if indexed if your domain is new. The age of a domain has lots of influence in Search engine ranking. Google has something called Google Trust which is very important to get good listing
Pagerank – This is something very debatable. To get a higher pagerank, you need to have many backlinks and to generate backlinks automatically, you need to have good content and the links should be natural. Building links or buying links are against the terms and conditions of Google so please don’t try this as there are chances that your blog or website can get penalized.
Keyword Density – Don’t stuff your post or page with keywords and think that your post will be listed on top of the SERPs. As per Google write your page for the reader, rest will be done by Google.
Alt Tags – You should use alt tags for images, which can help you in getting better ranking.
Meta Keywords and Description – You can add the meta keyword and meta description tag with the correct information which could help you in better ranking in other search engines. Google does not really believe this information what you provide, but it more depends on your blog post title.
Fresh Content – Keep your blog with fresh content and write about topics which people search on search engines. You can check about the latest trends on Google Trends. There are some methods to get ideas for your next post and keep your blog fresh with something new consistently.
Interlinking your blog posts – Its always advised to link your posts which are related or which give more information about the keywords. This could help you in improving your page indexing and ranking. You can use plugins like alinks or if you are using Windows Live Writer, you can use the autolinking feature of Windows live writer.
Outbound Links – Never shy to link to posts that are related. I suggest to use Zemanta which is a good tool to create related links automatically.
My advice is to create good pages follow the Google Webmaster Guidelines and wait. You cannot get on top in days, but it may take months or years to get on top and more traffic from search engines, but once you are off, you will have a consistent traffic from search engines.
