This was a thought that came to my mind as I spend a lot of time on my blog. I am not sure if it happens with all the bloggers. We need to spend some time reading our own posts, replying to comments and checking out what our visitors do (Visit their blogs through the comment links)
Why Should You Spend More Time On Your Blog?
I browse through the pages on my blog as a user and try to find out more about my blog as a visitor. This help me designing the navigation and help to add on features to make it more visitor friendly.
- Helps in improving the design, especially navigation
- Read my own articles to do necessary corrections
- Read the comments from my blog visitors and reply to them
- Check for spams, even though I have spam filters, some may come through. If we opt for publishing comments automatically for the visitors who had commented already, there are chances that they do spam.
- Visit my commentators website through the comment link
- Check out your blog statistics and find out the popular pages and try to make some improvements
- Check out pages which are not visible to your readers and try to interlink those pages
- Check out your Advertising performance
Tips for Adsense Users
If you are using Google Adsense on your blog, its always better that you do not show Google Adsense Ads to yourself. I use an hack to avoid display of Google Adsense ads when I am logged in. Reasons for not displaying my Google Adsense ads are
- Avoid Clicking on my own ads
- Avoid more impressions when I browse my blog to improve the eCPM
Its very important that you spend more time on your blog to improve it. I do not mean that you should spend the whole lot of time reading your own blog, but some time at least once in a week depending upon your blog visitors and traffic. We need to spend more time on writing new posts and to write new posts a lot of research is needed. When the situation is that the author and the webmaster is the same which is true for most of the bloggers then its a bit tough task as its in my case. If you are having more than one blog and you are the only writer, then to keep your blog fresh will be a tough time or you should be a full time blogger.
