Global Recession Hits IIM-Ahmedabad Placement

by Kishore on March 5, 2009

image About 25 students from IIM (Indian Institute of Management) Ahmedabad are yet to get their placement. This is for the first time this has happened and this could be because of the Global recession. Usually, these students are grabbed by the time results are out, but this time its the other way round. Usually private companies and government enterprises battle for the best brains in business in the month of March every year

IIM-A is considered as one of the top 25 business schools in the world. The financial giants – Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lunch were the biggest recruiters from the IIMs – Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Calcutta. These banks were affected due to the recession and global slowdown. Last year, IIM Bangalore had received around 20 job offers from the banks.

Global Recession is the reason for layoffs and such a state for the IIM pass outs were never anticipated.
