image In an update in Miadhu News, the number of foreigners working in Maldives has gone up to 77,000 which is a remarkable figure when we compare the population of Maldives. Out of this 77,000, about 50% of them are working in the construction industry. There are lots of new construction work going around in Maldives which includes new buildings and new resorts. 12,800 workers in the tourism industry as there are about 90 resorts in Maldives.

Interesting factor is that more than 50% of foreigners working in Maldives are Bangladeshi Nationals and the second comes Indians. There are Nationals from 30 countries working in Maldives. The number of expatriates coming Maldives for work has increased very much in the last two years as there are new projects coming up and lack of skilled professionals in Maldives could be the reason for the employers to look for foreign nationals. Employing foreigners are more expensive as the employer needs to take care of the visa charges, Accommodation, flight tickets, food etc, but for a local the expense is much less.

I get lots of enquiries for getting a Job in Maldives. I have started a new forum for employers and individuals who are interested in working in Maldives. There are lots of employment agents who do the recruitment work, but they charge for this service. If you are an employer and have a vacancy, you can post it in the Jobs Forum. Individuals seeking job in Maldives can also post their Job requirement on this forum. I am not responsible for any of these posts and there is no fees involved in this. Employers can contact the candidates directly and negotiate the deal.
