Final list of candidates for Maldives Presidential Elections

candidates for election maldives The election comission of Maldives have announced the final list of candidates for the forthcoming Presidential Election in Maldives. A function was held at Dharbaruge last night.

  1. Dhivehi Rahyithunge Party (DRP) candidate Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, running mate – Thasmeen
  2. Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) candidate Mohamed Nasheed (Anni), running mate – Dr. Waheed
  3. Jumhoory Party (JP) candidate Qasim Ibrahim, running mate – Sawaad
  4. independent candidate Dr. Hassan Saeed, running mate – Dr. Shaheed
  5. Social Liberal Party (SLP) candidate Ibrahim Ismail , running mate – Nahid
  6. Islamic Democratic Party (IDP) candidate Umar Naseer. running mate – Rizwee

There are 6 candidates for the first multi-party election which is to be held on the 8th October 2008
