The election comission of Maldives have announced the final list of candidates for the forthcoming Presidential Election in Maldives. A function was held at Dharbaruge last night.
- Dhivehi Rahyithunge Party (DRP) candidate Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, running mate – Thasmeen
- Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) candidate Mohamed Nasheed (Anni), running mate – Dr. Waheed
- Jumhoory Party (JP) candidate Qasim Ibrahim, running mate – Sawaad
- independent candidate Dr. Hassan Saeed, running mate – Dr. Shaheed
- Social Liberal Party (SLP) candidate Ibrahim Ismail , running mate – Nahid
- Islamic Democratic Party (IDP) candidate Umar Naseer. running mate – Rizwee
There are 6 candidates for the first multi-party election which is to be held on the 8th October 2008
