I use Windows Live Writer to do all my blog posts, but today it started giving me an error and closes off. I did not install any new programs or plugins for windows live writer. I tired reinstalling, but no luck.

For Google Adsense Users, when you insert two image ads on a same page, you will find that most of the time the ads shown are the same. This is something Google Adsense team should look into.

This happens when we select the option of image only. Its better to select, text for one and image for the other slot to avoid such ad serving. Today when I visited Amit’s Blog, I saw this and it really looks odd.

I regularly use Dreamweaver for working on  the files on my server. I was facing a problem of related to the saving of Remote Information, the server login details. Every time when I need to connect to the server for editing the files, I need to go to the Manage Sites and enter the login information, even though I opt for saving the login information ( a check box is provided to save the login information).

Vista users might have come across the problem of resolution being changed when they either set the system or their Laptop to Hibernate or to sleep mode. When I used this my screen resolution would change from 1280 x 800 to the lowest one and every time I had to change it manually.’

I searched through different forums, and got the solution which has worked for me. Some solutions were to change the registry value, but I could not find the registry values in my laptop registry.

Finally from the Microsoft forum I got a solution which worked. After doing this I tried by putting my laptop to sleep mode and then Hibernate, both the problems are sorted out

Solution for the problem of resolution being changed when put to sleep mode or Hibernate

Go to command prompt – run as administrator

If you run as a user you will get this error

You need to run as an administrator.

Just search for command and you will find command prompt listed, right click on that and type

powercfg -h on

Hibernate or put your system to sleep and try. This should solve the problem

Other solution which did not work for me, but worked for many others is by editing the registry values

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video]

Change the value of LidBehavior From 11 to 10 (Hexadecimal)

Other option is to update the device driver of your Monitor

I have been facing problem installing a network printer on my laptop which is run on Windows Vista. When ever I try to install , I get a message that the printer spool is not running, restart the machine and try again.

I have got the solution for this.

Go to start->Right click on Computer, then select Manage and then in services- select

Once you click on the Manage menu, you will get the the following wind

Then click on the services shown on the left sidebar. and select printer spool

Click on the start link or restart link to start the printer spool and try installing. For me it failed for the first time, but worked the second time

I got an invitation for Google Admanager few days back and was just going through the features before using it. I had tough time working on the the default Google Adsense settings. Google Admanager has a feature of showing Google Adsense ads if you have linked one for the slots which are free or even compete with the booked ads. Right now the user does not have the feature to modify the Adsense attributes like the link color or the border color as we can do for individual ads in Google Adsense control panel. But we can do it by using from Javascript provided on the help page of Google Ad Manager.

As per the information given on the help page is added the code, but was not working. You can see the code info below

According to the help page as you see above, I inserted the code as given below

Later I was going through some some other help pages for tagging, I came across this information about tagging and in that the attribute is GA_googleAddAdSenseSlotAttr instead of GA_googleAdAdSenseSlotAttr and when I corrected the code according to this it is working fine.

Now let me explain you how to  use the attributes to override the default adsense settings. When you login to the Ad Manager and go to the inventory tab, you can find the Default Adsense setting link. In this you can set your default adsense properties, but there is no option to set properties for individual solts or placements adsense properties.

But you can override the default adsense properties in the Ad Manager in two levels

1. Page Level
2. Slot Level

For setting the page level properties, you have to add the following code to change the property which will be applicable on a page level basis, all the slots will be effected

GA_googleAddAdSensePageAttr("param", "value");

 

and for Slot level modification you need to add

GA_googleAddAdSenseSlotAttr("slotname", "param", "value");

What are the properties that you can override?

• Border: param = google_color_border
• Title: param = google_color_link
• Background: param = google_color_bg
• Text: param = google_color_text
• URL: param = google_color_url
• Alternate ad URL: param = google_alternate_ad_url
• Ad unit (text, image, text/image): param = google_ad_type
• Corner style: param = google_ui_features
