Are women equally treated?

by on July 24, 2009

“There is a woman behind the success or the failure of a man”. How many of you are willing to accept that woman is the key or the deciding factor leading men and they deserve more respect than anyone else.

We are in a world of hero-worshippers and the society is ruled by muscle power. A woman of substance or the head with a brain is becoming a big problem to the male dominated society. Earlier men were the bread winners and it was his sole responsibility to look after his wife and kids and of course men were considered as the head of the family. The role of women were to look after the home. The current scenario is different since women give more preference to career to home.

Women are not treated equally either at workplace or at home. We are celebrating 26th August as the Women’s Equality day.

How equally have you been treated by your man?

Most of the men are thinking that women are just sex objects. Even men and women match professional skills and work shoulder to shoulder, still there exists a glass ceiling which discriminates the women even though many claims that men and women are equal.

When a man is decisive, he is dynamic but when a woman is decisive, she is very difficult and stubborn in the eyes of men. Very few men are willing to treat a woman as an equal. They are too insecure and prefer to treat her as a child or a half brain. Most of the men are male chauvinists and mostly make comments like: You just look at this once and I will finalize it. or why bother yourself? This can be most irritating to an intelligent, thinking woman  who is definitely better or equal in intelligence to him.

Women are considered ‘high risk’ in the business or the corporate world since a career woman is also someone’s wife, mother and daughter-in-law and thus has to deal with responsibilities.  This gives rise to certain periods in life where she is forced to make a choice between her career and home. But do we sacrifice our morale or our dignity in doing so?

If you want to get recognized or succeed in life, it is high time to break that stereotyped role in your life. It’s safe to say that there is really no job a man can hold that a woman cannot, anymore. To men, we are your better halves and not anything less than that.
